General Information
The Educational Day is held on the day preceding the congress (Thursday 23 June 2011). Its aim is to provide an introductory overview of the brain for people with little or no background in neuroscience, with a focus on brain functions which are of interest for psychoanalysts. Topics which are directly relevant to the focus of the congress proper will be covered throughout. Speakers at the Educational Day will not assume prior knowledge of brain anatomy and function. However, the comprehensive interdisciplinary scope of these introductory talks makes them useful to those with existing knowledge. In 2011, as in previous years, the Educational Day will provide background knowledge on the topic of the congress, i.e., the importance of neuroscience and psychoanalysis to each other.

The Research Day has usually taken place the day after the Congress, but was incorporated into the Congress proper in 2010. The aim is to provide an opportunity for those engaged in scientific research in neuropsychoanalysis to present their findings. Those wishing to present their work (either as an oral presentation or as a poster) should submit a one-page abstract. A limited number are then selected on a competitive basis. Submissions for this day are invited for work which is (a) on the interface between psychoanalysis and neuroscience and (b) of an empirical nature - including case reports of neurological patients in therapy.
Research on the topic of the next congress, Mind and Body in Berlin, is always particularly welcome but other topics are as well.
Poster Presentations about research are also welcome. For further information about creating posters, click here.
